A brief review of Hartmut's new Wittelsbach watch box

By MichaelC

Today I received Hartmut Kraft's Wittelsbach watch case. Let me start by saying Hartmut has not solicited my help or opinions - most of you will probably read this before he does. I am in no way affiliated with Hartmut, and offer my opinions for my friends here at Paneristi, to share with everyone how cool of a product this box is.

This particular piece is the high gloss / black lacquered version with cream interior, and holds six watches.

The craft and quality of this box are absolutely exquisite. Size is approximately 13"W x 10.25"D x 3.5"H. The interior is quite luxurious, lined with Hartmut's anti-static velour like material.

Watches comfortably strap around individual cushions, and are firmly held in each compartment. The pillows are snug enough that I suspect I could turn the case upside down with the lid open and the watch would not fall out (although I don't recommend it, and am sure Hartmut wouldn't either!). But you get the idea - the watch is not going to slide around at all if you move the case.

The entire lid is lined with the same material and built out on a foam underlay. When you close the lid, this lined pad gently touches down on the watch crystal. The lid is a perfect fit with the case, and is very well calibrated.

On this particular model, the quadrant hinges are even blackened to match the finish.

I previously purchased the original H-Box, which is a somewhat different animal in that its primary purpose is for travel. As you can see, the Wittelsbach is much sleeker, but features the same interior luxury.

The bottom line is that these cases are awesome. Obviously, there are less expensive options that are still good boxes, but side by side these are simply the "Panerai" of watch boxes. Strong, built to last, good looking, and perfectly crafted. I highly endorse these cases.
