SIHH 2002 Report

Power Reserves

Just as 2001 seemed to be the year of the Submersible, with the introduction of the Submersible Titanium / Steel, and the Submersible 1000m, so 2002 is the year of the Power Reserve.

The Power Reserve is a very popular model within the Panerai contemporary range. Paneristi web logs show that after the Luminor Marina, it is the most frequently researched model.

2001 introduced the PAM 90 and 93, in steel and titanium with the new Valjoux 7750 modified movement, and a power reserve indicator at 4. 2002 sees a complete fleshing out of the line, with most possible bases covered for this complication. The first two power reserves remain, but they are now joined by a 40mm strap model, a 40mm on a bracelet, a 44mm bracelet model, and a left-hander's Destro variant.

The bracelet models follow the same pattern as other Panerai watches, in that the 40mm is all steel, and the 44mm is a steel / titanium mix.

The new references are

PAM 123, 44mm destro on a strap

PAM 124, 44mm titanium / steel, on a titanium / steel bracelet

PAM 125, 40mm steel on a strap

PAM 126, 40mm steel on a steel bracelet

The 44mm strap models come with the new deployant buckle (see later).
